Our summer program combines the joy of play with meaningful learning, giving children the chance to explore, create, and grow surrounded by the wonders of the outdoors.
Forest Summer School was created to allow students to visit the outdoors for learning opportunities and exploration at the forested areas on and adjacent to the property daily. This type of programming allows for educators and students, weather permitting, to spend considerable portions of the day spent outside. Small-class sizes, individualized programming, outdoor experiences, and a different approach to learning and assessment allows all students to succeed and thrive.
Outdoor based learning takes place in any outdoor space, including urban greenspace, playgrounds, forests, creeks, prairies, etc. Field trips and daily activities will be planned to maximize the outdoor spaces available to us.
Our Forest School summer program will be open to Grades K-3 (OSC) over the months of July and August
Summer care is a full-time time commitment for July and August.
*Please note that this will exclude a week of closure June 30 to July 4 and August 25- Sept 1, to do maintenance before Fall.
To support children in developing an understanding of themselves as a part of the natural world. Natural learning relies on loose, natural materials to support open-ended, creative play and learning. This method views children and youth as innately competent, curious, and capable learners.
This program will be led by educators who facilitate our learners through play-based, emergent, and inquiry-driven teaching and learning methods. The view is that risky play is an integral part of children’s learning and healthy development, and is facilitated by knowledgeable, qualified educators who support children and youth to co-manage risk.
